Convenience retail moves fast. Stores are often located near transport hubs, petrol stations or busy residential areas, where customers are in and out within minutes. Many pay with contactless cards, mobile wallets or store apps. Checkout needs to work instantly, every time.

52ViKING supports traditional tills, mobile checkout, self-service, vending and unattended formats in one system. Prices and campaigns are managed centrally and applied in real time. The interface is simple to learn and fits stores with frequent staff changes or franchise setups.

OK Plus, the Danish mobility convenience chain, uses 52ViKING across a national network of high-traffic locations. More and more retailers in the sector are turning to the platform to support different formats, opening hours and staffing models.

DIY (Do It Yourself)

In the DIY industry, distances within stores are often significant. Some articles may be so bulky or heavy that customers must pick them up at specialized collection points. Also, articles may be customized in-store to suit individual customers’ needs before they’re checked out. For example, wood planks may be cut to measure, or paints may be tinted to exact customer specifications. 

The diversity and size span of articles in the DIY industry, combined with a high number of sales to professionals, makes the DIY industry unique. So does the requirement for staff to be able to advise customers on their DIY projects as part of the sales process, as well as some articles in the DIY industry, which may be potentially dangerous or harmful.

In the beauty industry, sales are often based on dialogs with customers, which is natural because, in beauty stores, many sales begin at the shelves rather than at checkouts. Staff advice often plays a significant part when customers select articles.
